Pain is defined as “An unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with, or resembling that associated with, actual or potential tissue damage,” and is expanded upon by the addition of six key Notes by International association of study of pain on 2020. Pain is the fifth vital sign and it is actually signal sent to brain about tissue damage and to protect from further damage. Pain being common medical problem nowadays, pathogenesis is sometimes complicated which can lead to chronic pain syndromes. As more the duration of pain suffering, less the chance to get cured unless treated with multidisciplinary approach of pain management.
Multidisciplinary mode of pain management is most successful model in pain management which includes interventional pain physician as team leader. There are two types of interventional pain procedures – Diagnostic and Therapeutic procedures. Diagnostic procedures are the gold standard procedures which can diagnose the exact cause of pain origin. Therapeutic procedures are the one which are done to control pain for longer duration for even those diseases which cannot be cured.
